Roots
Bianca is a Filipina-Canadian settler who has been lovingly raised on the unceded, traditional territories of the qʼʷa:n̓ƛʼən̓, (Kwantlen), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), and Semyome (Semiahmoo) First Nations. She cherishes the connections that she gets to experience in this life, and she is grateful for the wisdom that they bring to her existence.
Musings
Engaging with photography as a contemplative practice has welcomed abundant light and insight into Bianca’s life, and it has helped her lend a visual voice to her inner world.
Bianca’s visual work and creative process are ever-evolving, but in some of her most recent collections, she contemplates the significance of place and how we can maintain a reverent relationship with the land through deep awareness and the art of noticing.
In her other work, Bianca enjoys celebrating the quiet, fleeting moments of everyday life, and the emotive beauty that stems from natural surroundings throughout the seasons.
Hopes
This year, Bianca hopes to expand her work in portraiture and document more of the Pacific North West and its beautiful essence.
“Paying attention is a form of reciprocity with the living world… receiving the gifts with open eyes and open heart.”
